The Alpha course is an evangelistic course which seeks to introduce the basics of the Christian faith through a series of talks and discussions. It is described by its organisers as "an opportunity to explore the meaning of life". Alpha courses are being run in churches, homes, workplaces, prisons, universities and a wide variety of other locations. Alpha is a series of interactive sessions that freely explore the basics of the Christian faith. No pressure. No follow up. No charge.

Each session includes a meal, a short talk, and discussion. Alpha welcomes everyone 18+: people who are seeking more from life; people who are curious about Christianity; and Christians who are interested in re-examining — and re. An Alpha Session at SPC looks like this: Good Food - Every session begins at pm with a period of fellowship and a full meal. An essential part of the evening, this is a time to relax, meet new friends and to have fun while sharing a meal.
